Law & Grace
Law & Grace
Does the bible consistent or contradicting?
From the law, you draw wisdom
Why the bible want us to rightly or accurately dividing or handling the word of truth (Law & Grace)?
In 2 Tim 2:14, Paul told the people stop fighting or quarreling over the word of God, then He told the people to do the best to be diligent in studying the word of truth by rightly dividing the word of truth.
American King James Version 2 Tim 2:15
Study to show yourself approved to God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth
Young's Literal Translation 2 Tim 2:15
Be diligent to present thyself approved to God -- a workman irreproachable, rightly dividing the word of the truth
Holman Christian Standard Bible 2 Tim 2:15
Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who doesn't need to be ashamed, correctly teaching the word of truth
New International Version 2 Tim 2:15
Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.
New Living Translation 2 Tim 2:15
Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth
When the word of truth is rightly divided, it will automatically be correctly taught, accurately handled and explained.
New International Version John 1:17
For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
New Living Translation John 1:17
For the law was given through Moses, but God's unfailing love and faithfulness came through Jesus Christ
Can the Law save us?
Are we guided by law or grace or both?
Do we want to subject ourselves under law or grace or both?
Why God create the law or give the Law through Moses?
What is the purpose of the OT Law?
Who to fulfill the law?
How the OT people saved?
Are the OT people saved in the first place?
The OT people have faith in God or in Christ?
Are the OT people monotheist or trinity people?
Are the OT people live under law or under grace?
Are the OT people knows Jesus?
OT NT NT
Law Jesus time After Jesus
100% Law Law & Grace 100% Grace
Why the bible want us to be dead to the Law?
What does dead to the law means?
Why God set up the law in the first place? What is the purpose of the Law?
Does the Law has any more effect on us?
What is the purpose of the NT?
Why the bible want us to be dead to the Law?
The Law has no effect on us because we are dead to the Law. But it has relevant to us because the NT cannot stand alone. It needs the OT Law in order for the full effect of Christ to be revealed in the NT.
God want us to be dead to the Law in order for us to 100% focus on Jesus (who is the Gospel of Grace)
Why God set up the Law in the first place?
Without the OT Law, there won't be NT (Grace). The NT is the continuation of the OT. The Jews stopped at OT Law. In fact, the OT is Judaism that the Jews followed phanetically.
The Jews see God in the NT, however, they can't see Christ in NT. People are not anti-God, but they are anti-Christ.
Because the OT is Christ concealed, in order to have the NT, Christ revealed.

Under Law, the king who loved Daniel, need to throw Daniel into the lion's den because
Daniel 6:12
The king answered, “The decree stands—in accordance with the law of the Medes and Persians, which cannot be repealed.”
Under grace, Jesus (who is the King of kings), who loves the world has fulfilled all the law so that the law become powerless over the love of Jesus.
Under Law, in the OT, when the clean touched the unclean (the dead, the leper), the clean will become unclean. Under grace, when the clean (Jesus), touched the unclean (the leper), the unclean (leper) became cleaned and healed.
Under Law, when the cleaned touched the uncleaned (the dead), the cleaned become uncleaned
Under Grace, when the uncleaned touched the cleaned (Jesus), the uncleaned become cleaned
Do we want to subject ourselves to come under law or come under grace?
Why God create the law or give the Law through Moses?
What is the purpose of the Law? Why God gives the Law through Moses?
New International Version John 1:17
For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
New Living Translation John 1:17
For the law was given through Moses, but God's unfailing love and faithfulness came through Jesus Christ
- Christ concealed (as the lamb), the OT people need to practice yearly atonement.
- During Jesus time, He added on to the 10 commandment because the Jews felt that they have fully obeyed the Law, they don't need Christ.
- To bring people to the end of themselves so that they feel that they need Jesus as Savior
- The law is only applicable for sinners (those who are anti-Christ or don't believe in Christ), the law has no effect on those who are righteous (those who believe in Christ become the righteousness of God in Christ), believers live under grace, no longer living under law.
Matt 5:21-22 (NIV)
21 “You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘You shall not murder,[a] and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’
22 But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister[b][c] will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, ‘Raca,’[d] is answerable to the court. And anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell.
Matt 5:27-30 (NIV)
27 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’[e]
28 But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
29 If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.
30 And if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.
What is the purpose of the OT Law?
The OT Law is preparatory and transition, prepare the way for Christ and prepare us to see Christ. Transition in the sense that it was the temporal way to justification until the real substance (Christ) come. OT people depends on the Law for justification. As for Apostle Paul, for Jews to return to practicing the Law is sin.
Who to fulfill the law? Matt 5:17-18 (NIV)
The Fulfillment of the Law
17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.
18 For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.
There is no way we can fulfill the law, the law is set up by God for Jesus Himself to fulfill every single bit of it. Once Jesus fulfilled the whole law. It is finished and done. Those who believe by faith will become the righteousness of God in Christ.
New American Standard Bible 2 Cor 5:21
He (God) made Him (Christ) who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him (Christ)
The OT people have faith in God or in Christ?
The people in OT and NT, they are not anti-God, they are anti-Christ
What is the purpose of the NT?
- To replace the OT. Replace means OT has no effect, but OT has relevant.
Why the bible want us to be dead to the Law?
What does dead to the law means?
Gal 2:19-21 (NIV)
19 “For through the law I died to the law so that I might live for God.
20 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
21 I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!”[e
